Some people say I wear my heart on my sleeve. Suppose I do really, but why should I pretend everything is ok when it isn’t. Why should I fake it till I make it as many do. I had a really tough week last week. I was in that ‘What am I doing, am I crazy’ phase. Didn’t get paid by some clients and a hotel debited my card by mistake of 700 euros ….they apologized but it takes 3-5 working days to go back in. But that doesn’t help a small business owner who relies on cashflow. I was thinking….I wonder should I just get a job. I know people who do what I do get great salaries in a company for digital marketing manager roles.
But…….I have been on the receiving end of kindness this week on social media. It started with Ted Rubin doing his first Blab with me. He didn’t have to do that.
Also at the breakfast networking event I helped organize a lady at the eventBrenda Cassidy stood up and told people how amazing I was and how going to my twitter workshop had changed everything for her business. Wow! I was touched by this. This is what drives me. Stories like this. She didn’t have to do that.
RobertCStern has been very kind to me also. I have seen him help one lady on Blab and his kindness has even made her cry! All he did was offer services to help kickstart her back into the game. (She had been away from business for a while and had lost a bit of confidence). He also reached out and did a skype call with me. For this I am truly grateful. Sometimes we don’t see what others see. We sometimes need validation and to realize that we do have huge value and we do deserve to get paid for what we do.
Karen Graves giving me some wonderful advice on Blab yesterday. (Actually that made me cry a little) Did people laugh and say ‘Aha look at her getting emotional’ …..no they didn’t. I got so many DMS from people telling me they understood where I was, they had been there themselves, They identified with me. Karen didn’t have to do that.
So isn’t this is a good thing? There is nothing worse than feeling isolated and feeling like you are the only one experiencing these difficulties. I experienced kindness last night on Blab. For those of you who don’t know what Blab is, check it out here (If you want me to help you get started, I will be happy to co-host one with you to kick start you).
I have been undervaluing my time for a while now. I didn’t realize how draining it can be to give your services and then not get paid on time, not get paid enough and have learned that if people want me then they must pay for my time and knowledge. I have done more than enough to help others for free and at reduced rates. Now it is time for me…..it’s my time to shine. It’s my time to receive kindness and its my time to value myself and what I do.
I know I have the ability to increase ROI of any business, I have proved it. I know that I have talent and I give 100% to anything I do. I know that my clients are very happy with what I do for them. Social media is my passion. And I have met many wonderful people especially on Twitter who have enriched my life. I have made real friends also.
I write blog posts, share my knowledge with others and help start ups with a listening ear and point them in the right direction. Why should I keep it all to myself? This is kindness. It can be as simple as a Retweet of someone new, reaching out to help someone who seems to be having a bad week. Sharing an article or event that is coming up etc.
My skill is getting your brand noticed. No one will know who you are unless you put yourself out there. Tell people. Use social media. If you don’t know how to use it or don’t want to, then hire me to do it for you! Sure that is what I do.
If you want to meet lots of other business owners like me who say it like it is, are kind, friendly and compassionate then come to my irishbizparty network conference on October 14th – Book here
And if you want help or a one to one consultation to get your Twitter account working effectively for you then book a one to one with me here
See? I am learning….putting a call to action at the end of my blog posts. Lol. Thank you for reading this. Let’s succeed together by spreading some kindness today.
